Project description

How can digitalisation contribute to sustainable community-based urban development in our cities, districts and municipalities?

The Wüstenrot Stiftung is working with Urbanizers to find out what specific contribution could be made by digitalisation for sustainable urban development for the common good. The focus is on direct effects on the design, perception, utilisation and operation of spaces. As part of the research project, we want to analyse how positive changes in space arise in different municipal contexts.

  • Which instruments are necessary?
  • Which actor constellations are promising?
  • Which proven urban planning instruments can be digitally sharpened or strengthened, and which new instruments will become available?

The results will be used to develop support services for and with local communities that help to shape the spatial changes that are becoming evident in the course of the digital transformation on the one hand and, on the other, to utilise digital opportunities to manage the changes in a targeted process.
